Six LifeDimensions: Evaluating You

Life Dimension 1: Physical

Your PHYSICAL DIMENSION involves how your anatomy (your parts and systems) and your physiology (how your anatomy works) functions. When we assess a person, we are interested in their physical complaints or concerns. It is 1/6 of a much larger picture - your whole person human machine. We want to know about your aches, pains, and changes in your daily function.

LifeDimension 2: Mental

An individual's MENTAL DIMENSION is their mental function -- how one thinks, remembers, makes decisions, and applies logic. It has been said that the mental side of the mind is the "computer portion" of the brain. When we evaluate, we want to know how your thinking, logic, memory, and understanding is working. Again, it is 1/6 of your whole person-whole systems performance.

LifeDimension 3: Emotional

When we speak of the EMOTIONAL DIMENSION, we are not talking about thinking nor logic. We want to know how you process "feelings". Do you experience mood changes, frustration/anger, sadness, or simply a dullness of emotion? We want to know because your emotionality is 1/6 of your whole person.

Life Dimension 4: Spiritual

An individual's SPIRITUAL DIMENSION is very personal and often quite private. To some this dimension will be recognized as a religious element while to others it will encompass a more ethereal experience of inner peace and understanding.  With some people, the concept of a spiritual presence in their life will seem foreign.  And to others, a vital core of who and what they are.  In any  case, it relates to a sense of a higher power connected to one's life and a resource to which a person can turn for insight and guidance.

LifeDimension 5: Relational

Relationships have a direct impact on an individuals' health and performance, whether the interactions occur in personal life, expanded family life, the workplace, or a social environment. It is important to look at relationships. They can either amplify or erode a person's daily life experiences.

LifeDimension 6: Environmental (1 & 2)

When we speak about “geographic and physical environment, we often label it the “NBC category” which represents nuclear (radioactive), biological, or chemical exposures which has proven to compromise mind, body, and daily performance , i.e. Type 1. When we speak of the "people environment" in which a person spends a majority of his/her time, that is Type 2.  It is vital to evaluate both environments to determine "healthy" or "harmful".
